Quantitative Project Management Wiki
Sacramento, Calif., April 19th -- today announced its new wiki and open data community to expand the quantitative software project management body of knowledge
Rose Point Consulting (RPC) has released a quantitative project management "wiki" (in beta mode) that is intended to serve as a central source of software project data and best practices.
The owner of RPC, John Amacker and Gerrit Klaschke created this wiki which is located at www.QPMWiki.org, with the intent to give the information technology community a vehicle to share and collaborate on best practices, trends, share and discuss project data, and case studies. The goal of this initiative is to increase understanding the cost drivers, the correlations, and the efficiencies of new and emerging processes and therefore help the IT industry to deliver their projects on time and on budget.
This initiative specifically focuses on sharing and collaborating on software project measurements, with entries that provide links to the various topics such as software processes that can be edited by users, and space for comments.
Rose Point Consulting is handling media relations and marketing of the public wiki.
"Most software development organizations recognize the value of using tools to measure, estimate and control projects to have repeatable project success. Many have invested heavily in these tools and the processes that support them. However, these tools consistently fail to keep pace with emerging technologies and development strategies. "Amacker said, "Further, organizations recognize the value of project estimation but do little with the readily available measurements gathered during estimation process. This is where this wiki comes into play to bring the IT community together."
