Cost Estimation Model Development
Innovation is a constant for software development organizations. Agile development, packaged implementation, model driven architectures, and SOA development are all examples of software development strategies for which Rose Point Consultants have developed customized client-based cost models. Analyzing on-going and historical project data, comparing it to the latest industry research allows us to identify new correlations or completely new models that improve the ability to forecast, plan and manage projects.
Cost Estimation Training & Mentoring
Cost estimation tools and processes are often viewed as ‘nice-to-haves’ by software executives and project managers and as too academic or complex to be used routinely. Rose Point Consultants understand this and have developed a set of training classes that are designed for busy software professionals.
All of our classes combine theory, industry research and case studies. These classes can be taught on-site or on-line. We have found that the classes are most successful when they are customized to reflect organizational goals and processes. This way the classes can be designed to provide immediate application of the lessons learned. These classes can range from basic cost estimation theory and best practices to advanced PMO based courses covering on-going statistical analysis of software development processes. These courses can be built using any of the popular software cost estimation tools for case studies or taught with no specific tool referenced.
Rose Point Consultants also work with many organizations providing on-going estimation mentoring. This mentoring can include reviews of project estimates, creating size estimates, project milestone reviews and conducting project close-out sessions.
